FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straightforward answers about planning, installation and making an enquiry. Can’t find what you need? Ask us directly.
General
Is solar or a battery suitable for my property?
It depends on your roof, shading, energy use and plans. A short conversation and a few details are usually enough to tell whether it is worth a closer look.
I already have solar. Can you work with my existing system?
Often, yes. Adding a battery or EV charger to an existing system depends on your inverter, switchboard and system age, which are checked before anything is recommended.
Do you need to visit my site?
Usually. A site assessment confirms roof, switchboard and installation details, so any proposal is based on your property rather than assumptions. What is involved is explained before one is arranged.
How long does a project take?
Timing depends on the system, the site, equipment availability and any network approvals. Expected timing is outlined when we discuss your proposal.
Enquiries
Which areas do you service?
SYNC ENERGY & ELECTRICAL services homes and businesses across the Melbourne metropolitan area, with a dedicated team supporting Melbourne’s western suburbs. See our service areas, then contact us to discuss your location and project requirements.
How do I make an enquiry?
Use the quote form, which takes a few minutes, or email syncenergy007@gmail.com or admin@syncenergyelectrical.com. Your details are used to respond to your enquiry, as explained in our privacy policy.
What happens to my details?
Your enquiry details are used to respond to you, as described in our privacy policy. Marketing updates are only sent if you opt in.
Rebates and incentives
Are there rebates or incentives available?
Government incentives for solar, batteries and other upgrades change over time and depend on eligibility, so we do not list amounts on this website. Check current information from official sources such as energy.gov.au, and ask us how incentives may apply to your enquiry.
Batteries
What is the difference between kW and kWh?
Kilowatts (kW) measure power: the rate energy is being used or supplied at a moment. Kilowatt-hours (kWh) measure energy over time. A 2 kW appliance running for three hours uses 6 kWh.
Will a battery keep my power on during a blackout?
Only if the system is designed for backup. It depends on the battery, the inverter and how the switchboard is configured. Tell us if backup matters to you.
Can a battery be added to my existing solar?
In many cases. Compatibility depends on your current inverter and switchboard, which is checked during the assessment.
Solar
How big should my solar system be?
It depends on your energy use, roof space and network export rules. Rather than a fixed package size, a system is sized from your usage pattern and site details.
Can I add a battery later?
Often, yes. Planning for it at the start, for example with a compatible inverter and switchboard space, can make adding a battery later simpler.
Do we need interval data for a commercial system?
It helps. Interval data from your retailer or meter shows when your site uses energy, which leads to a better-sized system. If it is not available, bills and site information can be used instead.
Can installation work around our trading hours?
Scheduling is discussed during planning so that any disruption is understood and minimised where practical.
EV charging
Do I need a dedicated EV charger?
Not always. Some drivers use a standard outlet for top-ups. A dedicated charger is generally faster and designed for regular, sustained charging.
Can I charge my EV from solar?
Yes, with a compatible charger or settings. How much of your charging comes from solar depends on system size, timing and how often the car is home during the day.
Electrical
Is this an emergency electrical service?
No. This website is for planned work and enquiries. If you have an electrical emergency or safety hazard, contact your electricity distributor or emergency services.
Why might my switchboard need upgrading?
Older switchboards may lack space or modern protection for new circuits such as solar, batteries or EV chargers. An assessment confirms what is needed.
