Battery energy storage systems
Solar batteries
A battery can store excess daytime solar generation for use in the evening. It may help reduce grid purchases during higher-tariff periods, depending on the system, household or business usage and tariff.
Where equipment, installation settings and the tariff allow it, a battery may also be charged from the grid. Backup power, grid charging and support eligibility are not automatic; they are assessed for the individual system and current rules.
